Self-Motivation – 6 Simple Steps to Success
Don’t want to work or start an important task? Below you will learn a few tricks to overcome low motivation. Follow these recommendations consistently. It's important.
Step 1: Describe the desired outcome
Describe in a few words what needs to be done. Make a sale, learn to speak English, meet the right person.
It should be a completed action with a concrete result. The human brain does not perceive abstract, blurred desires. This is an important step if you want to know how to motivate yourself.
Runtime: 1 minute.
STEP 2: Imagine the future outcome
Close your eyes and imagine yourself achieving results. Scroll through a short film in your mind. You're in the lead. Look at everything through the eyes of an eyewitness. And at a fast pace, scroll through all events, from this moment until the desired result is achieved. This is the result formulated in a few words in the first step.
This will allow you to see the chain of actions necessary to get the result.
Runtime: 5 minutes.
Step 3: Imagine where it all started
Close your eyes and imagine where your journey began. Scroll through the same short film in your mind. You're in the lead. Look at everything through the eyes of an eyewitness. And at a fast pace, scroll through everything from childhood to this moment. When you see how much you have already accomplished, acknowledge your successes by saying, “I have already achieved so much.”
This will allow you to see how much you have achieved in your life. This exercise is similar to the previous one, only now you imagine not the future, but your past successes.
Runtime: 5 minutes.
Step 4: Write a list of all steps
Take a piece of paper and write a list of all the steps you need to achieve the result. After that, on a new sheet of paper, break each step into several more steps. You need to divide the steps so that each of the items on the list corresponds to a simple action of 1-2 hours of continuous action.
Usually, to get a result, we need to take not one step, but several. Therefore, it is better to write down all the steps in one list. Also remember, the main reason for low motivation is abstract and unclear tasks. As already mentioned, the human brain perceives only specific tasks. Abstraction is to learn English, so general and obscure that there is no desire to act. But when you have before your eyes a clear list of things and each case requires no more than 2 hours to complete - all that remains, take and do.
Time of execution: from 10 minutes to 1 hour.
Step 5: Set deadlines
Set dates for each item on the list to be completed. The golden rule of time calculation: after setting a deadline or completion hour, multiply it by 2.
We are always inclined to exaggerate our capabilities, and we do not know how to clearly calculate the time for the lesson we perform for the first time. So stick to a simple rule and multiply the time by 2.
Timing is binding. Without deadlines, we will simply postpone the execution of the case.
Runtime: 5 minutes.
STEP 6: Get started
Start consistently implementing the plan. Select the first step from the list, determine the time of execution (let’s say 1 hour), start execution. Do not stop and bring the matter to the end. Then reward yourself with something. Cross the case off the list and proceed to the next point.
The key to this step is to bring the matter to an end. Any interruption, postponing the case, is nothing more than a delay in obtaining the desired result. There is no quicker way to get what you want. published
P.S. And remember, just by changing your consciousness – together we change the world!
