Audi has created a suspension with the function of generating electricity
Company Audi has presented the prototype of a car suspension with the function of energy recovery: the system has received the name of eROT.
In the proposed system replaced the traditional shock absorbers of the so-called Electromechanical rotary dampers. During the movement of a special mechanism converts kinetic energy generated by the suspension elements, into electricity.
Audi claims that depending on the type of pavement system allows you to generate 3 to 613 watts of power. The average rate is 100-150 watts.
Energy recovery is stored in a special 48-volt block Li-ion batteries, whose capacity is 0.5 kWh Battery via a DC-DC Converter connected to the 12-volt onboard electrical system.
It is important to note that the concept of eROT suggests the possibility of optimizing performance of the dampers depending on the type of road or riding style.
Preliminary tests of the new system, says Audi, suggests that the technology is promising. However, the timing of implementation of development on commercial vehicles, the company says nothing. published
