The new project from Toyota: the wind turn into hydrogen and hydrogen fuel -to

Toyota Motor and partners are starting a new project, which is to use hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources to transport food.

Electricity generated at the wind power plant in Yokohama, near Tokyo, will be used to separate hydrogen and oxygen from water. Hydrogen will be transported by truck to the plant, fruit and vegetable markets, as well as two trains, which will be used as fuel for forklifts.

"This low-carbon network of hydrogen supply is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 80% compared to the supply network using forklift trucks powered by gasoline or electricity network»

Japan plans to build a "hydrogen society", to encourage the use of fuel cells to power cars, homes and offices.

Testing of the project will begin this fall with two trucks, their number will increase to 12 within a year, starting from April 2017.
