White "fog" in the city of Mainz in Germany

At noon today Valpodenshtrasse street in the German city of Mainz was filled with thick white mist. Presumably there was a leak of a gas tanker parked. Residents were advised not to go out and tightly close doors and windows. Here are some photos from witnesses, it looks very unusual.
