Every sixteenth surgeon in the United States thinks about suicide





American scientists have found that suicidal thoughts arose in the sixteenth of each surgeon in the United States, according to Science Daily. The study conducted team led by Tate Shanafelta from the Mayo Clinic.

Group Shanafelta interviewed nearly eight thousand American surgeons. In addition to issues relating to suicide, researchers interested in the level of depression, the overall quality of life and exposure to professionals burnout syndrome, caused by overwork.

The authors found that in the year before the survey anonymous suicidal thoughts arose at 6, 3 percent of surgeons. This suicide attempt pondered 16, 2 percent of surgeons in the recent past had committed medical errors. Among experts, the recent works without error, the figure was 5, 4 percent.
