The participants of the longest war in the end forgotten that war, and remembered on this accident

The war was 335 let

This war was fought between the Netherlands and the Isles of Scilly - a group of islands in 45 km from the southwestern tip of England. It began in 1651, the year.

When Elizabeth I died, the crown passed to her cousin James Stewart - son of Mary, Queen of Scots. For the first time in the history of England, Ireland and Scotland had one king. Not surprisingly, it did not suit everyone. Everything got worse when the throne was inherited by his son Charles I, whose popularity fell when he tried to get out of the 30-year war.

Carl continued to make mistake after mistake: he tried to rewrite religious texts (unsuccessfully) and suppress the Scottish rebellion. Eventually, an armed uprising against the Scots Irish and British led to the separation of powers. Royalists supported the king and his right to rule, but the parliamentarians wanted to overthrow him.

And the Dutch have decided to support the parliamentarians. The Cavaliers responded with violence: attacking all Dutch court appearing in the English Channel. As a result, the Cavaliers lost the war - they had to gradually recede, and the last remaining stronghold were the Isles of Scilly.

The Dutch have decided to use this opportunity to finish off the Cavaliers, and sent a fleet of 12 ships to the tiny group of islands, demanding compensation for damage caused to the royalists Netherlands. Royalists refused, then declared war on the Netherlands - both them and the islands.

The blockade lasted for three months, while the Cavaliers have not surrendered. Now, when the islands were controlled by parliamentarians, to claim compensation was not one, and the Dutch sailed home. Officially announced the termination of the war, all somehow forgot.

So the Isles of Scilly and the Netherlands officially at war until 1986, the year before silliysky one historian has found evidence of the involvement of the islands in the war, and the departure of the Dutch surrender. He appealed to the Dutch Embassy in London, and officials found documents proving that the Isles of Scilly, and the Netherlands, is still fighting.

The peace treaty was signed on April 17, 1986-the year, putting an end to the longest war in history - but without a single battle. The war lasted 335 years.
