Camel racing



If European nations holds the saying "A dog - man's best friend", the Bedouin of the Arabian desert's best friend, of course, camels. Until relatively recently, on the backs of the animal rested the entire economy of the nomadic and semi-nomadic Arabs who lived in the deserts of Arabia. Camel fed, watered, clothed, carried people and cargo. Arabic poetry made the camel symbol of beauty, and language gave a few thousand words denoting the animal. Photo by Ahmed Al Toqi
