Facebook will now assist in the search for missing children

The Company entered into an agreement with Facebook organization «National Center for Missing and Exploited Children», which aims to identify missing children. Under the agreement, Facebook will показывать notification of missing children in accounts of users who live or work in areas where the missing child. These messages are called AMBER Alerts.

Such messages work since 1996, they can be shown on TV, interrupting transmission, published in local newspapers and magazines. Now AMBER Alerts will appear in social networks. So far it is only about the inhabitants of the United States, but in the future the program could be expanded to other regions.

According to company management, AMBER Alerts can be published in the user's account a few times a year, but most users will never see at these messages - because not all children are lost.

AMBER Alerts will be a notice that includes the child's photo, a short description of the situation (where the missing child looked like, etc.), plus a link to more information. All this can be a very effective method of searching for children - because Facebook account hundreds of millions of people who may well be witnessing the events in question in the AMBER Alerts.

Previously, the program AMBER Alerts worked at Facebook, but with separate account / public pages. Now the social network of automated processes send messages about missing children, and the effectiveness of such work should appear very soon.

Such an initiative can only welcome. It would be nice if, and in "Vkontakte" was launched a similar program.
