Monkey dolls
In one of the eastern districts of Jakarta, there are slums that at first glance are no different from other slums - dirty streets, pathetic low buildings, desolation and decay around. If you happen to wander into this squalid area, you will immediately be surrounded by a crowd of plague children hoping to lure some money.
If you don’t get out of there right away, you’ll soon notice one very strange feature of the settlement: small figures that look very much like the children who asked you for money. However, looking closely, you will notice a peeking tail from under the clothes, hairy limbs and clawed legs. Quite a terrible sight, which invariably makes an indelible impression on tourists.
The explanation of this sur is quite simple - the residents of the slums dress children's clothes and masks with children's faces on monkeys. The goal is to make money. For many locals, “living dolls” are the only source of income that allows you to simply not die of hunger. 198978
