Hole in Android allows users to monitor the movement
international human rights organization Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) published a report in which it reported the vulnerability of the operating system Android, allowing to track the movement of the owner of the device, based on data on its connections to the WiFi-networks. This problem was found in the PNO (Preferred Network Offload - preferred network to upload data), which first appeared in Android 3.1. This functionality allows you to save battery power while connected to WiFi, at the time, until the display device is turned off. It is reported that hackers could obtain data on the 15 access points, on which to build a migration route of the device owner. Google has already released a patch for wpa_supplicant, which solves the problem in its operating system, but according to researchers, a similar vulnerability found on other platforms.
