Monument to Peter the Great in Moscow





One of the most important cultural attractions of the Russian capital, along with the house-museum of AP Chekhov in Moscow, is a monument to Peter the Great, which is located on the Crimean embankment not far from the company's "Red October". Majestic monument erected on the project by Zurab Tsereteli, has a height of 98 meters. Its construction was timed tercentenary of the Russian Navy, the opening is held during the celebration of the 850th anniversary of Moscow.



The base of the monument - a pillar, which is crowned by boat, made of bronze. It is a statue of the Russian Emperor, the author portrayed him with a map in hand.



Construction of the monument, which is a unique engineering solution performed during 1996-1997. Bearing skeleton sculpture mounted on a reinforced concrete base was made of stainless steel, it imposed bronze details cladding.



The figure of the emperor, as well as the design of the ship are collected separately, and then they were off the shelf mounted on a pedestal. Suspended guy rook, representing an open spatial structure, made of stainless steel.



To avoid changes in tone sculpture of Peter the Great, made of bronze, under the influence of negative environmental impact, its surface covered with a special protective varnish. Scroll to the Russian emperor gilded hand, sails well made of copper, while inside them, in order to reduce weight, made a special spatial structure of the metal.



As for the flags, then they are reinforced by means of ball bearings, so wind loads in those areas are minimized. In the interior of the monument is the ladder by which performed the periodic inspection of the construction of the sculpture.



At the base pad mounted fountains that create the impression that the ship cuts through the water. Tourists from all over the world dream to visit near the monument to Peter I, because this monument is the highest in Russia.
