Right "to be forgotten" by Google
Google agreed to delete references to "obsolete" and "incorrect" information. The company launched on Friday, May 30, a service through which you can send a request to remove the link. Thus, Google complied with the Court of the European Union.
EU court ruling, according to which EU citizens have the right to require search engines to remove references to "incorrect" and "outdated" information was issued on May 13. However, access to data maintained at the source site, despite their removal from the search engine.
In the coming months, Google intends to work closely with data protection authorities, to "improve the mechanism of" execution of the order to the company. According to them, each request must be accompanied by an explanation of why it is necessary to remove the link from the search results.
At the same time, one of the founders of the Google search engine, Larry Page warns that the new practice may harm the young Internet companies and provide an additional opportunity to strengthen the control over the Internet.
On the first day after giving Google the ability to remove links from the search results received about 12,000 applications. This means that the "rush hours" received 20 requests per minute.
