Found them in the dumpster. . .

It really was a surprise to find such a treasure, in the most ordinary city dumpster in the slums of Moscow.

I wasn’t born into a wealthy family, which is why one of my favorite pastimes in my childhood was regularly raiding a dumpster to find something interesting or valuable. We spent hours digging in dumpsters.

One day I found these two books.

I have no idea what value these editions, published in 1764 and 1765, may have.

Mom didn't like the find and she asked us to take them back to the dumpster. But then the pope stepped in and, having carefully studied the contents, declared that it was valuable and could cost $100 or more. The money at that time was very significant. They decided to leave the books at home.

Of course, my mother continued to try to dispose of these printed materials, but since I was responsible for garbage removal, I saved these works several times. My mother’s arguments were iron-clad – since these books have value, they should be sold, and it is not necessary to keep any old stuff at home.

But by some miracle the books have survived to this day. I have always been curious about what is written in these books and the value of these copies. How do you even determine their price?
