Mainskaya HPP - the younger sister of the power plant, which is 21 kilometers downstream of the Yenisei. Both stations are a single hydroelectric complex, technologically closely related: Mainskaya - kontrreguliruyuschaya station Sayano-Shushenskaya - peak. On the technical level, this complex is unique in Russia.

1. In the course of the year, and during the day electricity needs are different, so the peak hydroelectric SSHHPP (pictured) promptly reacts to these fluctuations. This leads to a permanent change in the level of the river downstream and causes inconvenience to the water user communities located downstream of the Yenisei.
