One of the best films of all time, "The Diamond Arm" was filmed partly in Baku. I will show footage from the film with an indication of the timing and modern surveying the same locations. Photo 1.
1. Frame 01.27. The first frame after the credits. Baku in 1968
2. Baku today.
Photo 2.
1. Frame 01.31. All the shooting took place in a historic area called Fortress. Here car smugglers went to the pharmacy.
2. Frame 10.57. The same street. For one frame Gaidai peopled its multiple characters.
3. Now the street is completely rebuilt. Location is identified only by the old tower in the background.
Photo 3.
1. Frame 12.35. Rousseau tourists! Look morale!
2. Frame 20.01. Yuri Nikulin save his moral character.
3. The street is completely preserved. All the doors and windows in place, even on both sides
Photo 4.
1. Frame 16.01. Yuri Nikulin "citizeness!»
2. Frame 18.47. Andrei Mironov in search of gold and diamonds.
3. Right House rebuilt.
From the large round tower to the left leaves a ladder by which descended Ichthyander (see post about "Amphibian Man).
Photo 5.
1. Frame 19.04. God dammit! Chert poberi! Andrei Mironov, Leonid Kanev, Gregory Spiegel.
2. Leonid Kanevsky recalls a youth: "This is the same pharmacy." From the movie "The investigation is conducted. Series 157, Lion's Paw ".
3. This is not a pharmacy, and the entrance to the courtyard. No space is not there.
In the photo 4 and 5 different parts of the same street. And in the area between the two filmed the episode where Ichthyander running away from the police.
In conclusion, I do not believe in everyday story that Gaidai inserted at the end of the film a nuclear explosion to divert attention of the selection committee. Firstly, on the set of "Brilliant hands" has already made several films and programs, all talk about it, but never showed the explosion. Do not even say whether to keep this film, simply bypass this question. Secondly, the same should be somehow linked to the story, at least, this should be something funny. About this linkage also did not say easy - put Gaidai explosion and all. The impression is that these frames do not see storytellers. And if the explosion was not related to the plot, the Commission should have realized that this is a provocation, not all fools sitting there.
I think this anecdote invented Gaidai or someone in his entourage. Maybe someone told a joke, "and let's make an atomic explosion", but the people took it as a valid case.
