Traditional American food hot dog actually has its roots in Germany, specifically - in Frankfurt. That Germany has become famous worldwide for its sausages and hot dogs, which were made there and a great variety of different recipes. The story goes that a butcher from Frankfurt came up with long, thin sausages, which became the prototype of today's sausages. Manufacturer named his creation dachshund, which translated from German means "taxi", apparently by analogy with a long little body of this breed. A little later, an enterprising German immigrant, who went to America, began to sell these sausages, putting them in the manner of a sandwich between two slices of bread, which were later replaced by bulku.
It happened in the 19th century, when even the highest light was not yet familiar with the napkins, so the bread played an important hygienic role - he is not allowed to get their hands dirty fat and not burn them hot sausages. And in the early twentieth century American artist Dargan decided to make an illustration of the popular dish, so loved in the New World. He knew the translation of the word, but did not know its exact spelling in German, so, without hesitation, signed a graphic in their own language, convey the general meaning of the name. So, sausage bun called "hot dog" - a hot dog. According to another version, the sausage in a bun called them hot dog savvy students at the end of the 19th century. Buying these sandwiches in mobile trailers, they have noticed that they are constantly going around the pack of dogs, attracted by the smell. So first own vans in the student folklore were called Dog, and then passed the word and sausages.
