Polygons on Mars

Astronomers now know that on the Red Planet are large in diameter from hundreds to thousands of meters, polygonal education. How and where they came from - that's the subject of this debate researchers. In particular, some people think that because they are somewhat similar to the geological patterns of our planet, it is likely that formed Martian objects around as well. The illustration clearly shows that the Martian map is very similar to a normal seabed. In addition to these polygons there are traces of landslides and erosion of the border. With regard polygons - they are found mostly in the northern plains of the Red Planet. Here the objects are the largest. With regard to their smaller "brothers" found elsewhere - their appearance is likely to happen under the influence of thermal contraction - just as in the Earth's permafrost. Scientists from the University of Austin (USA) took the view that talks about the similarity of the Martian and terrestrial maps of the seabed. On our planet, such polygons are clearly visible in Novrezhskom and the North Sea, ie where the depth of more than five hundred meters. This gives grounds for scientists assume that ancient Mars was covered in the same seas, resulting in and formed its modern relief.
