Pure night sky

If you periodically read our magazine, you might remember one of the cleanest lakes in the world and lupins. We're talking about Lake Tekapo in New Zealand. As it turns out, there is another unique feature in this area.

The fact that the sky above the lake, compared to other places on the planet, far more crystal clear and not closed any single cloud. That is why it was decided to build New Zealand astronomical observatory on Mount John, which rises to 1,091 meters above sea level. But this does not stop there. City officials are so imbued with the proximity to the observatory, which introduced a specific law prohibiting the use of bright artificial light and the more uplighter. Therefore, the lights of the town does not prevent scientists to explore the cosmos. Here are a few shots Observatory and stunning video at the end.
