Mysticism in an envelope

Randomness - the non-random thing in the world
Writer Yevgeny Petrov had a strange and unusual hobby: collecting envelopes for life ... from his own letters! He did so - sent a letter to some country. All except the name of the State, he invented - city, street, house number, the recipient's name, so in a month and a half, the envelope back to Petrov, but decorated with colorful foreign stamps, most of which was: "The target is wrong." But in April 1939, the writer decided to disturb the post office in New Zealand. He came up with a town called "Haydberdvill" street "Raytbich" house "7" and the destination "Merrill Odzhina Ueyzli." In the letter, Peter wrote in English: "Dear Merrill! Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Uncle Pete. Be strong, man. I'm sorry I have not written for a long time. I hope that with Ingrid's all right. Kiss my daughter from me. She probably already quite large. Your Eugene ". It took more than two months, but the letter with the corresponding mark is not refundable. Deciding that it was lost, Evgeny Petrov began to forget about it. But then came in August, and he waited ... the response letter. At first, Peter decided that someone made fun of him in his own spirit. But when he read the return address, he was not joking. On the envelope was written: "New Zealand, Haydberdvill, Raytbich, 7, Merrill Odzhin Ueyzli."

And all this was confirmed by a blue stamp "New Zealand-mail Haydberdvill." The text of the letter read: "Dear Eugene! Thank you for your condolences. Absurd death of Uncle Pete knocked us off balance for six months. I hope you will forgive for the delay in writing. We Ingrid often recall those two days that you were with us. Gloria quite large and autumn go in the 2nd class. She still keeps the bear, whom you brought it from Russia. " Peter never went to New Zealand, and so it was even more amazed to see the photograph powerfully built man who hugged him ... Petrova! On the reverse side of the picture was written: "October 9, 1938". There is a little bad writer did not - it was in the day he was taken to hospital unconscious with severe pneumonia. Then within a few days the doctors fought for his life, not hiding from his family that chances of survival had almost none.

To deal with these either a misunderstanding, or mysticism, Peter wrote another letter to New Zealand, but the answer did not wait: the Second World War. Petrov from the first days of the war became a war correspondent "Truth" and "News". Colleagues did not recognize him - he became withdrawn, thoughtful, and even stopped to joke.
In 1942, the plane on which he flew into a war zone, disappeared, most likely, was shot down over enemy territory. And on the day of receiving the news of the disappearance of the aircraft on the Moscow address Petrova received a letter from Merrill Ueyzli. Ueyzli admired the courage of the Soviet people and expressed concern for the life of Eugene. In particular, he wrote: "I was frightened when you become a swim in the lake. The water was very cold. But you said that you are destined to break the plane, and not drown. I beg you, be careful - to fly as little as possible ".

On the grounds was recently filmed "The Envelope" with Kevin Spacey in the title role.
