The first evidence of Tskhinvali
The first evidence of Russian journalists come from the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali.
The city was destroyed and burning.
In different parts of the city streets strewn with fragments of bricks and cut branches of trees, chadyat lined with armored vehicles.
The streets are deserted, most trips are military men in flak jackets. Sporadic gunfire could be heard. On the streets and buildings of houses - twisted skeletons of cars.
People are still afraid to go out and do not leave the cellars and improvised bomb shelter. In the city there are shops. No water or electricity.
RIA "Novosti" with reference to the Minister for Ethnic Affairs of North Ossetia Teimuraz Kasayeva reports that more than a thousand civilians in Tskhinvali, according to preliminary data, were killed in an attack by Georgian troops.
