Once basaltic lava poured out of the Mendeleev volcano. In some places, formed a special temperature regime of its solidification, and basalt array divided into five separate and hex. The sea receded and advance the array was destroyed by the erosion that created a high cape on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk Kunashir. People called him columnar.
