In China, a fire broke out in an apartment building, but people were not allowed to go out

China protests One of the main topics in the news today. In 2022, a whole mountain of new problems fell on our heads. So people started to forget about COVID-19. However, the virus has not disappeared. Moreover, residents of different countries continue to be actively ill and die from this disease. China was no exception.

Earlier, we wrote about the large-scale lockdown, which the Chinese authorities introduced in the spring. Only now 2022 is coming to an end, and the situation is not getting better. What prompted people to protest and what is the situation in China now, we tell later in the article.

The protests in China have reached a critical point. On November 24, 2022, firefighters were unable to arrive on time. A fire in an apartment building killed 10 people. Another 9 people were hospitalized.

The event received wide publicity in society. The next day, people protested in the city of Urumqi. Protests began in other parts of China. In total, 26 thousand discontented people gathered on the streets. The Chinese have strongly opposed the zero covid strategy. They also demanded the resignation of President Xi Jinping.

The state's "zero covid" or "zero tolerance" strategy means all people who have come into contact with the infected should be quarantined. And the lockdown will not end until the level of mass morbidity decreases.

On November 27, protests began in major cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Wuhan and Guangzhou. To immerse people in the information vacuum, local authorities launched the work of Botofarms on the Web. If you type in the name of any major Chinese city on Twitter, you can see a lot of tweets with ads of a very interesting nature and gambling.

GettyImages It is no secret that the people of China love eye delight, stirring the mind. Because the Chinese Internet is filled with images of cute hand-drawn (and not only) half-dressed characters. These cute pictures are very distracting from events that some experts have already compared to the revolution.

Such major protests in China have not been more than 30 years. They immediately affected the state of the country’s economy. For example, the price of oil and other stocks fell sharply. The rallies are also significant because people have made clear political demands. People are not satisfied that Xi Jinping went to the third term of his presidency.

When people are imprisoned, they can not work and they have to live on a bare salary. They do not receive any additional payments or bonuses. Because of coveid restrictions, small and medium-sized businesses suffer. The tourism industry suffers special losses.

People in China say that the statistics on the incidence are deliberately overstated to keep the people in the hedgehog. According to the authorities, many people are sick. At the same time, new cove centers are not opened. The hospitals are gone, too.

There are several versions of why lie to people and close people to their homes. All of them are related to China’s domestic politics and government. They say that people’s attention is shifted to more pressing problems. And instead of political protests in the country broke out covid.

To say for sure how all this will end is difficult. Those at the head of the protests are likely to be arrested. But serious repression is unlikely to come. Moreover, certain relaxations of quarantine measures are already being introduced.

Not all Chinese people support the protests. This is normal, as Chinese society is still quite entrenched. However, there is already a shift towards freedom in any form. It is difficult to say whether these rallies will yield any significant result. However, they show that the patience of the people is not infinite.

What do you think about the protests in China? Do you support the people who took to the streets of China?
