Next, I will share some useful information about women’s safety. When crossing a border, especially if you’re doing it for the first time, there are a few things to remember.

Security rules for Ukrainian refugees What not to do
  1. On the road, if possible, being in touch with relatives, acquaintances or a trusted volunteer. All the necessary documents should lie in a separate place (bag, banana), so that in case of what they do not look for them in a suitcase. Don’t panic if you meet someone who offers you a job abroad. In any situation, keep your head cold.
  2. At the border, you must not give your passport or other documents to anyone. Do not get in the car with a stranger, even if he offers you help. Don’t do that if you come to a foreign country alone.

    Peels

  3. If someone compulsively offers you help, do not agree and bypass such a person. Don't let yourself get out of the crowd. Also, you should not accept the first job offer.
  4. Beware of people who don’t say what organization they’re working with.

What to remember
  1. There are many volunteers at the border. It is best to make sure that the person is verified, so feel free to ask him to show you a document confirming the identity. For example, a passport or driving license.
  2. Write down the details of the volunteer who helps you or escorts you to the station, and pass them on to your loved ones, friends or acquaintances. Always ask for help from volunteer groups.
  3. Volunteers often provide assistance not only at the border, but also escort refugees to the desired bus station. If you get in the car to a volunteer, be sure to write down or photograph the car numbers and pass the data to your family.

  4. Do not rush to tell any new acquaintance or volunteer about your plans. If someone offers you a job on the road, tell your trustee or volunteer who helps you.

Residents of the country in which you came, can offer you temporary housing at home. Don't rush to find a job right away. Remember that you need time to adapt to new conditions. I remind you again: under no circumstances give your documents to anyone.

Be polite and follow the rules set in the house that has become your temporary shelter. Pay special attention to the behavior of the owners, their foundations. No one has to cook food for you or clean up after you. It will not be superfluous, on the contrary, to offer your help around the house or in cooking.

Keep in touch with your local volunteer organization. Be sure to record the personal data of the people with whom you will live. On the ICANHELPHOST website you can find people who are willing to put refugees in their apartment or house.

If you have any suspicions about the person who offers you housing, contact your local police station.

Peels and another important point. Each European country that receives refugees from Ukraine has its own living conditions. This applies to cash payments and conditions of employment. This can be found in local volunteer organizations. You should not think and hope that when you come to the EU, you will immediately start working. This is a multi-step process that usually lasts for a while.

Remember, panic won't help. Take your situation seriously and follow the rules of the country in which you will temporarily live. We believe that soon the war will end and all immigrants will be able to return to their homeland!
