Dr. Evgeny Komarovsky conducted a test drive of two boxes - Finnish, which is more than 70 years old, and Ukrainian, introduced only in September 2018. What's in the baby box and isn't the government saving on kids? Let's see!
Newborn boxes were first introduced in Finland in 1938 and were given only to low-income mothers to solve the problems of declining fertility and high infant mortality.
After 10 years, the government decided to give boxes to all mothers without exception who visited a doctor in the first 4 months of pregnancy. In recent decades, newborn It turned into a kind of tradition and became a real rite of initiation into motherhood.
Every year the composition of the Finnish box changes. For example, first in boxes put cuts of fabric, because in the first half of the twentieth century, women sewed clothes on babies, but in the 50s began to put ready-made clothes in boxes.
As now, and 70 years ago, the box itself was made in the form of a durable cradle, which could serve as the first bed of the baby. And in order to popularize breastfeeding, it was decided not to put bottles and nipples in the box.
In addition to the components, every year the color range of fabrics in the box changed. If before all things were predominantly white, today in the box put clothes, blankets and beds of neutral and universal shades.

And in Canada, in the box for the baby put a video lesson as new parents to care for the baby at first.
