This 17th-century engraving depicting Jesus Christ wearing a crown of thorns is called "One as one line."

INCREDIBLE!

The usual drawing, close up, turns out to be an image created with the help of ONE SINGLE LINE, which is twisted in a spiral. All details of the face and transitions of light and shadow are created using thickenings of this line. The author of the work is the French artist Claude Mellan. For the artist's contemporaries, his method of engraving remained a mystery, and no one was able to repeat it.
