The Resurrection Of Christ. Victory over death

In skrecanie of Christ — the basis of our faith. It is the first and most important, great truth, by the proclamation of which the apostles began their preaching Ministry. As godmother death of Christ made purification of our sins, so His resurrection granted us eternal life. So for believers the resurrection of Christ is a source of constant joy, unceasing rejoicing, which reaches its summit in the feast of the Holy Christian Pascha.

In probably no person on earth who has not heard about the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. But, at the time when the facts of His death and resurrection so widely known, their spiritual essence, their inner meaning secret of God's wisdom, justice and His infinite love. The best human minds have hopelessly yielded to this inconceivable mystery of salvation. However, the spiritual fruits of death and resurrection are accessible to our faith and are heartfelt. And thanks to given us the ability to perceive the spiritual light of divine truth, we believe that the incarnate Son of God has voluntarily died on the cross to cleanse our sins and rose again to give us eternal life. On this belief rests our whole religious Outlook.

Now briefly recall the main events related to the resurrection of the Savior. As the evangelists narrate, the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross on Friday, about three o'clock afternoon, on the eve of Passover. On the same day in the evening Joseph of Arimathea, a rich man and the pious, together with Nicodemus took from the cross the body of Jesus, anointed him with perfumed substances, and wrapped canvas ("shroud"), as relied on Jewish traditions, and buried in a stone cave. This cave was cut by Joseph rock for his own burial, but for the love of Jesus lost Him. This cave was in Joseph's garden, near Golgotha, where Christ was crucified. Joseph and Nicodemus were members of the Sanhedrin (Supreme Jewish court) and also the secret disciples of Christ. The entrance to the cave where they buried the body of Jesus, they placed a great stone. The burial was done hastily and not according to the rules, since this night began the feast of the Passover.

Despite the holiday, on Saturday morning, the chief priests and scribes went to Pilate and asked his permission to put to the grave of Roman soldiers to guard the tomb. The stone covering the tomb's entrance, attached to the printing. All this was done as a precaution, as they remembered the prediction of Jesus Christ that He will rise again on the third day after His death. So the leaders of the Jews, without knowing it, has produced irrefutable evidence of the subsequent next day of the resurrection of Christ.

Where was the Lord in His soul after He died? According to Church belief, He descended into hell with His sermon and delivered the souls of those who believed in Him (1 Pet. 3:19).

On the third day after His death, Sunday, early in the morning when it was still dark and the soldiers were on their duty at the sealed tomb, the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The mystery of the resurrection as the mystery of his incarnation, is inconceivable. His weak human mind we understand this event so that in the resurrection the soul of the God-man is back in His body, why the body came to life and transformed, becoming immortal and spiritual. After that, the resurrected Christ left the tomb, not ataliva stone and not violating the high priest's seal. Warriors did not see what happened in the cave, and after the resurrection of Christ kept watch over the empty coffin. Later an earthquake occurred when an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the stone from the door of the sepulchre and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing was white as snow. The warriors, frightened by the angel, fled.

Neither the myrrh-bearing women, nor the disciples of Christ knew nothing about the incident. As the burial of Christ was committed hastily, the myrrh-bearing women agreed the next day after the Passover, that is, in our Sunday, go to the tomb and finish anointing the Savior's body with perfumed ointments. On the charge to the coffin of the Roman guard and on the attached print they did not know. When it began to appear dawn, Mary Magdalene, Mary, Salome, and some other pious women went to the tomb with sweet-smelling myrrh. Heading to the burial place, they wondered, "Who shall roll us away the stone from the tomb?" - because, as the Evangelist explains, the stone was great. First came to the tomb, Mary Magdalene. Seeing the tomb empty, she ran back to the disciples Peter and John and told them about the disappearance of the Teacher's body. A little later came to the grave and the other myrrh-bearers. They saw in the tomb a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe. The mysterious young man said to them: "fear Not, for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is risen. Go and tell His disciples that they will see Him in Galilee." Excited by the unexpected news, they hurried to the disciples.

Meanwhile, the apostles Peter and John heard from Mary about what had happened, ran to the cave: but, finding it only the linen clothes and the napkin, that was on the head of Jesus, and returned home in disbelief. Later Mary Magdalene returned to the tomb of Christ and began to cry. At this time, she saw in the tomb two angels in white garments, sitting one at the head, the other at the feet, where was lying the body of Jesus. The angels asked her: "why are you crying?" Having answered them, Mary turned around and saw Jesus Christ, but did not recognize Him. Thinking it was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried Him (Jesus Christ), then tell me where I put It, and I'll take It." Then the Lord said to her: "Mary!" Hearing a familiar voice and turning towards Him, she learned of Christ and exclaiming, "Teacher!" rushed to His feet. But the Lord did not allow her to touch him and told me to go to the disciples and tell them about the miracle of the resurrection.

That same morning the guards came to the chief priests and told them about the angel and the empty tomb. This news greatly troubled the Jewish authorities turned their anxious foreboding. Now they had to make sure that people do not believe in the resurrection of Christ. So they gave the soldiers a lot of money, ordered to spread the rumour that the disciples of Jesus at night while the soldiers slept, stole His body. The soldiers all did so, and so hearing about the theft of the body of the Savior and then kept a long time in the nation.

On the first day of His resurrection, the Lord appeared several times to His disciples, who were hiding alone and in groups in different parts of Jerusalem. According to Church tradition, Jesus first appeared to His Mother and comforted Her maternal sorrow. Then the Lord appeared and the other myrrh-bearers, saying to them: "Rejoice!" The myrrh-bearing women hastened to share this good news with the other apostles. On the same day the Lord appeared to another AP. Peter and two disciples, Luke and Cleopas on the road to Emmaus. In the evening He appeared to all the apostles who gathered to discuss the rumors of His resurrection. For fear of the Jews, the apostles locked themselves in a house in Jerusalem (According to legend, in "Zion's room," which was made with the last supper and where seven weeks after Easter the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles).

A week after this the Lord again appeared to the apostles and including the AP. Thomas, who was absent at the first coming of the Saviour. In order to dispel the doubts of Thomas regarding His resurrection, the Lord allowed him to touch His wounds, that Thomas fell at His feet, exclaiming: "my Lord and my God!" As the evangelists narrate, during the forty-day period after His resurrection, the Lord had appeared several times to the apostles and talked with them and gave them his last instructions. Shortly before His ascension the Lord appeared to more than five hundred believers.

On the fortieth day after His resurrection, the Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of the apostles ascended into heaven and since He is "right hand" of His Father. The apostles, encouraged by the Savior's resurrection and His glorious ascension, returned to Jerusalem to await the descent of the Holy spirit, as promised to them by the Lord. published
