If you are caught in an awkward position: the Wise technique: "TA-Da!"
Mentally arms out to the sides and bow to an invisible audienceIn the book "the Wisdom of improvisation" (Improv Wisdom: Don't Prepare, Just Show Up) has a wonderful technique of the "Circus bow".
The claim that circus clowns use it if you suddenly had some kind of "school" in their program. Instead of shrinking in horror, "Oh God, I could do it, all is lost," the clown turns to the audience in one direction, smiles, spreads his hands widely and making a bow, proclaiming "TA-da!" Then turns to the other side and repeats the same thing. So happy, like he just did a great trick!
This technique is good – it allows the person to return attention to the world to straighten up to look around. At the same time to assess the situation and decide what to do next.
It is much better than the stupor of self-flagellation.
So if you are in social situations you made a mistake, was in an awkward position – mentally arms out to the sides, bow to the invisible audience and proclaimed "TA-da!" published
P. S. And remember, just changing your mind — together we change the world! ©
