The graveyard of tanks near the town of Sögel

The small town of Sögel in the lower Saxon, Germany. There are several hotels, a beautiful hunting Lodge of the 18th century, hospital, and several cafes. One of the main attractions are two dozen old American M47 Patton tanks, rusting in a field six kilometers from the city.

Tanks lined up in a very strict and regulated order. However, there are some signs of why they are so lined up. At the entrance to the field is a sign (in German) reads “the Meppen shooting range”, although Meppen is located 15 km from Sögel. The sign also says no trespassing, and has a vague mention of the Prosecutor's office. But the field with tanks no fenced and anyone can now go around quite calmly.
