In the competition SpaceX Hyperloop Pod for the first time experienced capsules for passengers Bashny.Net

Last week 27 teams demonstrated their developments in the competition to create the best model of a passenger capsule the Hyperloop Pod in the headquarters of SpaceX in Hawthorne, California.

The purpose of the aerospace project of the company is to accelerate the creation of a functional prototype hyperspeed vacuum train and stimulate students of higher educational institutions to design and build a working Hyperloop cabin. A similar contest is held for the first time and his party can become the team of the University from any part of the world.



We will remind, "Hyperpathia" is a supersonic transport system that consists of vacuum pipes, which will move the passenger (cargo) capsule on magnetic cushions. It is expected that the highway will be located above ground, and the speed with which to move them in the vacuum of the train will be about 1200 km/h.





SpaceX announced the creation of a test area of the transport system two years ago and was originally planned to finish construction and carry out the first stage of the competition Hyperloop Pod Competition in the summer of 2016, but then the dates moved — apparently, SpaceX has failed to timely complete the construction of the highway.

In the past the competition for a test site was tested several dozens of scale models. Participants of the competition were the team that passed the previous stage in the design of the capsules, which was completed in February 2016. There were selected 30 teams, 26 of which tested their prototypes directly in the tube with a length of 1.6 kilometer.





Officially, the results of the competition at the moment nothing is reported, however, according to SpaceX posted the video, we can assume that the prizes of the first stage will go to teams from mit, Delft technical University and Munich technical University — their prototypes have been able to develop in the pipe the speed of 90 km/h.

The second part of the Hyperloop Pod competition II Competition will be held in summer 2017. Moreover, as stated in SpaceX, this stage of the competition will focus on the sole criterion of the maximum speed. published
