Deepak Chopra: the Myths of age are greatly exaggerated

Each of us probably have heard that growing up, the body and the mind of man begins to grow decrepit, it becomes less fluid and the condition is getting worse from year to year.

We all accept these facts of absolute truth and humbly anticipated the arrival of old age.

But, according to modern science, all these facts – is highly questionable and are more like myths.

Let's hear the opinion of Deepak Chopra, an American endocrinologist, a native of India and well versed in traditional Indian medicine.

The first myth: human health depends entirely on genetics

This is not so.

Despite the fact that we are born with defined sets of genes, but their development and implementation will depend on what lifestyle you choose.

Scientists are closer to understanding the gene expression of transforming information from genome to protein. This process is greatly influenced by many factors:

  • thought processes,
  • emotional
  • stress,
  • sleep mode
  • endurance physical activity,
  • breath
  • the integration of body and mind.

We can say that it is in our power the ability to draw on positive genes and suppress the negative. It refers to the study of the new science – epigenetics. In the end, we will soon approach the task of overseeing the development and aging of our cells.

The second myth: getting older, feel older

This is not so.

Each person has two age – biological and chronological.

Age chronological is the age on the passport, and biological shows the state of your body, including different parameters on the pressure and of blood cholesterol to body fat percentage with bone density. All these factors caused by different indicators, among which the real age is not of great importance.

The aging process of the body depends on your attitude to aging, your expectations and beliefs, perception of time and level of energy.

People aged 50 years can feel like 35, and missing myself a 35-year-old feels 15 years older.

Myth three: the Body begins to grow decrepit with age

This is not so.

Advanced age does not necessarily imply weakness and disease.

Nobody will prevent you from exercising, to perform physical training.

It is known from experience that men who are over 60, started to exercise, a month and a half the power level grows twice. A half-hour walk once a week prolongs life of 7 years.

The fourth myth: the Brain will inevitably deteriorate in old age

This is not so.

If you think that brain cells gradually die, then you are not quite right. According to recent studies, in certain parts of the brain to develop new cells won't stop! Of course, cells are dying, but they are replaced by new.

To strengthen the brain, you need to constantly train him.

Especially effective for the development and maintenance of brain activity will be the study of foreign languages.

Note that only a small share of 3-4% of diseases, including Alzheimer's caused by genetics. Most of them are determined by lifestyle, emotions, stress, sleep and diet.

Myth five: the Energy body is gradually fading

This is not so.

The indicator of our energy is not tied to age. It depends on your relationship to your body and your habits.

Quiet meditation, healthy sleep, physical activity will help your body to maintain a normal level of energy.

Myth six: old Age and happiness are incompatible

This is not so.

There is no relation between happiness and age. In fact, the "autumn" of your life may be the best period of time. It is important to eat right, take care of yourself and not to lose social connections.published
