AIMPLAS presented their project in the field of heating of electric vehicles
Heating and cooling are very important from the point of view of energy consumption in electric vehicles (up to 40% of total energy consumption). Thus, the development of a more efficient heating system has a huge positive impact on energy consumption, thereby allowing to increase the mileage on a single charge. Quite long ago I wrote about the development of the company Bosch, which developed and presented an intelligent heating system for the electric vehicle, operating on the principle of refrigerator compressor.
And finally, we decided to introduce another development in this area.AIMPLAS, along with other partners of the EU project JOSPEL has developed an innovative heating system consisting of heating panels, which can be placed in different parts of the car, reducing energy consumption by 30% compared with traditional heating systems. This system is based on the Joule effect, in which an electrically conductive materials produce heat when voltage is applied.
Conductive fillers were laid in a matrix of thermoplastic polymer in a particular formulation in a pilot plant AIMPLAS '. As told Begoña Galindo, chief researcher of AIMPLAS project JOSPEL: f
"Processing parameters are very important in order to achieve adequate electrical properties with the lowest concentration of conductive filler".JOSPEL the project aims to develop optimal energy-efficient climate systems using an integrated approach which involves the use of thermoelectric effects Joule and Peltier, the development of more efficient insulation, and energy of thermal zones.
The main goal is to reduce the energy used for the comfort of passengers by 50% and energy used for cooling by 30%.
