Students from St. Petersburg create the first Russian santamobile
St. Petersburg Polytech team Solar Team develops santamobile called SOL. On October 8, prototype SOL will participate in the international race of santamobile, and the final version is promised to be released in may 2017.
Race santamobile is not the first held in Australia in the framework of the World Solar Challenge. The principle of operation of such machines is quite simple: on the roof of santamobile are solar panels, solar charging battery, and the battery is already powered motors.
Work on the first Russian santamobile is from may of this year, and at the moment Polytech Team finished Solar car design and the development of powerful and compact electric motor and also working to create an optimal shape of the body and wheels of the vehicle. The final cost of the SOL is about 10 million rubles, and in the manufacture use only the most advanced materials. "Our santamobile meets the highest standards. SOL have competitive characteristics. Efficiency, speed, weight, design are all on the top level. In the future we intend to introduce in SOL autopilot. Nothing like that in our country there was not. As practice shows, the finish doesn't get any more than half of the pilots. But we will do our best to make the car not hit their number. SOL will travel at an average speed of 90 km/h. If all goes according to plan, we will be the pioneers," — said one of the participants of the project Alena Kalinina in an interview with "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
Actually, to win in the race for the team from the Northern capital is not important. The creators want to draw attention to environmentally friendly transport, as alternative energy sources developed in our country quite weak. For example, at the moment in Russia was only about 700 electric vehicles, while in neighbouring Norway the share of electric cars is 25% of the total number of machines. published
P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
