Ivanpah, the giant Sun City in the Mojave desert

Sunlight — a virtually infinite source of energy on Earth. And lately, the Mankind more and more aware of this simple truth. For example, in the United States of America in the Mojave desert already built the world's largest solar power plant — Ivanpah.

While the creators of the Sahara Forest Project and the government of Qatar getting ready to build a huge solar power station in the Sands, in the American Mojave desert is not the first year is a Grand building!

It started back in 2010 year and in 2013 is expected to be put into operation the world's largest solar power plant called Ivanpah (after once located near the Indian settlement of the same name).

The total capacity of the plant, expected to reach 392 MW, which will allow to meet the energy needs of approximately 140 thousand private houses. And, if you count the number of emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which will save Ivanpah, we get the equivalent of 70 thousand cars.

All 170 thousand of solar panels at Ivanpah will have a GPS and the system of rotation, so that every ten seconds they are able to slightly move around its axis following the movement of the Sun across the sky. Moreover, it is already known that in 2013 will be running only the first stage of this gigantic power plant. At the state level decided to continue the construction of the facility — because places in the desert a lot (like the sun).

Bold plans of the US government is turning to solar power across the Mojave desert and neighbouring areas for 30 years. And it's 19 million acres (nearly 80 thousand square kilometers)! This will develop a huge amount of energy, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 13.5 million tons (the equivalent of 2 million 100 thousand cars).
