The rock called "Troll's Tongue"

Close to the famous Norwegian Pulpit rock is another famous attraction of Norway is a rock called "Troll's Tongue".

The rock is located 122 km North of Pulpit rock. The rock got its name due to its unusual shape. "The Troll's tongue", also known as Trolltunga in Norwegian, was formed when the mountain Skjeggedal broke off a piece of rock. However, due to the relatively small weight to a piece of rock fell down, and hung at a height of 350 feet above the water.

It should be noted that now under the famous rock is an artificially created lake. The mountain Skjeggedal located 10 kilometers from the town of odda. After the "Troll's Tongue" on the cover of a famous travel magazine in 2009, there gushed a huge stream of tourists. And the next year the flow of tourists to the rock tripled. However, in 2010 stopped working a funicular railway that brought tourists to the rock. So, now to get to the famous cliffs, we have to overcome the route length of 12 km.

However bored you in ways not necessary, as you will be able to enjoy the "tolevymi boilers" as they're called here deep like a bottomless mountain lake. It is best to visit the "Troll's Tongue" in the period from June to October, otherwise you'll have to go on the snow drifts.
