Colorful lake Kliluk

Lake Kliluk is known around the world not in the usual form. It consists of many small round water tanks. They appear in early summer, because the lake is located in the hottest region of the country. And very often the temperature in summer exceeds 40 degrees Celsius.

In moments like this heat the water evaporates, creating strange spots of the lake. The color of the water in these little lakes is very different: from white, green to blue, red and black. It depends on the minerals that saturated the water in the tank. The structure of the lake is no less strange and unusual than its appearance. All the water are minerals and various chemical substances: a huge number of sulphate of magnesium, titanium, silver, calcium, sodium sulfate.

Since the country begins summer, all minerals and substances harden, naturally, forming a solid ring around the water spots, which can easily withstand the weight of an adult. For Indians the lake and the area around it are sacred and inviolable place.

Among the local population popular various legends and stories associated with the lake. The most interesting of these tells of two warring Indian tribes, who always fought against each other.

After another belligerent to the conflict wounded and exhausted warriors from both tribes came to the lake to heal the wounds and wash away the blood. Lake Kliluk helped to heal not only the terrible physical scars, but emotional. Since ancient times, Indian tribes have decided that the water in the lake of dreams heal people. The lake is located near the small canadian town of Osoyoos, in the Okanagan valley, four kilometers from the border of Canada with USA.
