How sleep affects a child's intelligence?
Children who sleep well in the night, have a good memory. This conclusion was announced by scientists at the University of tübingen in Germany. The results of the research showed why children who sleep less, poorly in school.
Children who sleep longer, can turn so-called "implicit" knowledge into "explicit".
Explicit knowledge believe information that is stored in memory at the time as "hidden" — information that gives you the opportunity to do some action, not really thinking how.
"Implicit" knowledge can be converted to explicit and Vice versa.
Doctor Ian Bourne and his friends from the University, prepared an experiment on 30 children and adults. The idea of the scientist, they just pressed the buttons in a predetermined sequence.
After a night's sleep, the participants had to remember the sequence of button presses.
According to the obtained results, children coped better with the task than adults.
Scientists have noted that children do not have a high wave activity during sleep, which is directly related to memory performance.
Slow wave activity, as scientists believe, is of primary importance when recovering mood, ability to learn, think and remember. Experts attribute this to a long childhood dream.
