Walgreens will build the first "zero" retail store

Long known that alternative energy sources are not only more environmentally friendly, but also able to greatly reduce costs. On this basis, the pharmacy giant Walgreens announced its intention to build the world's first "zero" retail store, which consumes exactly what it produces.

This effect, the company strives to achieve through a combination of solar panels, wind turbines, geothermal technology, energy-saving building materials and led lighting. Today, according to official representatives of the network Walgreens, 150 eight thousand stores already partially self-sufficient. All one hundred and fifty equipped with solar panels, a pharmacy in Illinois also uses a geothermal installation for heating and the Texas air turbine. In addition, more than 400 stores offers electric charging stations for cars.

The new store will be the embodiment of all possible environmental technologies that really work today. In Illinois (USA) work is already underway on the construction of the "zero" of the building. It will be built from energy-saving materials. On the roof will placed 800 solar panels and two wind turbines. Geothermal (depth 167 m) will be under the store and easily heat or cool the building depending on the season.
