Japanese fisherman received the award for the invention of a secure network

Environmentalists handed Japanese fisherman award in 30 thousand dollars for an invention that will help save birds from accidental contact with fishing nets, said the world wildlife Fund (WWF).
Every year, 320 thousands of sea birds become entangled and die in fishing nets. In addition to the birds in the so-called "bycatch" includes turtles, dolphins, seals and other sea creatures. WWF since 2005 presents the international Smart Gear award Competition for the best inventions, which can reduce the damage to animal world fishing fishing. Each year, about 70 applications from 25 countries enter the competition.

"This year the main prize of the WWF in the amount of 30 thousand dollars was received by the Japanese captain Kazuhiro Yamazaki (Yamazaki Kazuhiro) for a device that speeds up the dip nets into the water," — said in the message.
As explained by the authors, due to the rapid dip nets into the water, birds do not have time to "catch up" with the bait, which is considered prey, and getting caught in the net.
"Using this device in combination with other safety devices reduces ingress of birds in the network, almost 90%," — stated in the message.

In addition, 10 thousand dollars was awarded to inventors of devices for safe fishing deep sea fish for scientific purposes. The fact that when lifting from great depths to the surface normal equipment, fish do not have time to go through all the stages of decompression and dies, and a new device allows you to get her out unharmed.
Also, the jury awarded scientists from the University of Hawaii and the Institute of open ocean (Ocean Discovery Institute) over the network, equipped with led or web beacons, which "scare away" the turtles.
