Scientists said: the leaning tower of Pisa was straightened

The main features of the world-famous Italian landmarks, the leaning tower of Pisa, may soon come to an end. The fact that popular tower began slowly but steadily to straighten up!

Between 2001 and 2013, the slope was reduced to 2.5 cm. Despite the fact that the straighten seems insignificant, it indicates a stable strengthening of the Foundation of the leaning tower of Pisa. In the 90-ies of the last century, architects and scientists have done tremendous work to save the tower from falling, by choosing the soil from under the Northern part of the Foundation. The result of this work, the leaning tower of Pisa has managed to decrease from 4.5 to 4.1 meters. And in 2001, tourists are once again allowed to visit the tower. However, after some time, the architects regretfully came to the conclusion that the tower continues to fall at a speed of 1 millimeter per year, according to the Italian edition of Il Tirreno.

And in 2008 scientists were surprised to notice that the fall of the tower was stopped, and this year celebrated its "movement toward verticality". In this case, according to various versions, the tower will be able to delight tourists a couple of hundred years.
