Honey can replace antibiotics

Scientists said that honey can act on a par with conventional antibiotics in the treatment of patients with renal insufficiency. Use honey as a preventive and therapeutic agent highly suggest Australian scientists. This is especially true for patients with renal insufficiency and those who can be exposed to peritoneal dialysis, a procedure that cleanses the blood of man. And there are people all over the world around 200 000.

While there are restrictions on the number of such procedures because of the risk of ingestion of infections. According to the latest experiments, which were published in the journal the Lаncet Infectious Disеases, honey for its medicinal properties stands next to standard antibiotics. Scientists from the University of Queensland (Australia) studied the antibacterial properties of honey.

With the participation of 370 volunteers who undergo peritoneal dialysis, researchers have shown that honey is quite effective against wide spectrum of microorganisms, sometimes even better than antibiotics, which are commonly used to prevent the spread of infection at an early stage. Despite the fact that the results of scientific papers talking about the benefits of honey, still talking about the replacement of these natural medicines for serious diseases of the kidneys it is too early.
