Journey through the largest salt desert in the world

Salar de Uyuni — dried salt lake in the South of the desert plains of the Altiplano in Bolivia at an altitude of 3650 m above sea level. The area of this unusual place 10581 sq km and it is the largest salt flat in the world.



The main minerals — halite and gypsum. The inner part of the cover layer of boiled salt thickness 2-8 m During the rainy season the salt flat is under a thin layer of water and turns into the world's biggest mirror surface.
