Unique eco cement created from recycled husks

Like many other building materials, cement is not the most environmentally friendly. But often there is no alternative to it. What about those who care about the environment? Grab the old toilets!

Yeah, you heard right. It is old ceramic toilets (as well as sinks, baths, etc.) that can serve as an excellent raw material in creating eco-friendly cement.
An international team of researchers from Spain’s Polytechnic University of Valencia, Imperial College London and several other alma maters have been working for a long time to create eco-friendly cement using old toilets, sinks, tiles and bricks that are not suitable for construction.

Through experiments, it turned out that such cement is no less durable than traditional, but the process of its production is ten times cleaner and safer.

What is the recipe for eco-friendly cement? For its manufacture, it is necessary to turn ceramic products that have served their lives into crumbs, mix it with an activator, for example, with sodium hydroxide (sodium silicate) or even a completely environmentally friendly option - ash rice husks and water. The resulting mixture is poured into the form and baked. Experiments prove that this cement is very, very strong, even stronger than the industrial version.

Cement with rice husks is the most environmentally friendly, and according to experts, 100% green, because it is made of completely recycled materials.
