In Scottish Aberdeen switching to hydrogen public transport

In the near future the public transport fleet the Scottish city of Aberdeen will be the largest in the world in the number of buses, as power sources that use hydrogen fuel cells.

Yesterday, in the framework of the project "Hydrogen bus Aberdeen city", the transport company received the first four buses, which in coming weeks will add another six. They are all manufactured by Van Hool (Belgium), and on city routes will be operated in the same mode as traditional public transport.

As told representatives of the city authorities of Aberdeen, the conversion of the fleet was initiated by the city Council and received strong support from the governments of Scotland and the UK. To purchase 10 hydrogen-powered buses and build a fueling station has been allocated £ 19 million. In the near future this cost will increase, because hydrogen filling stations are planned to be build across the city.

In the city administration believes that the hydrogen public transport should significantly improve the environment of Aberdeen and have a positive impact on the expenses necessary for its operation. The success of the project could be the first step in the mass distribution of buses on hydrogen fuel cells across Europe.

There is also information that the solemn presentation of the updated fleet will be held on may 21 and will host this event in the framework of the national energy conference All Energy. Immediately after this, until the end of may, all ten buses will be on routes in the test mode. Full well their job is supposed to start closer to the fall. It is impossible not to recall the gas station for this innovative transport. Its important feature will be the independent generation of the fuel by the kilowatt electrolyzer. That is, this object, and all subsequent, will be completely Autonomous.
