There are many reasons that will make You visit the incredible island of Sicily, but one of the most convincing is the famous Mount Etna is an active stratovolcano with a height of 3329 meters. However, if You do not particularly enjoy Hiking, then You'll be pleased to know that there's an easier way to meet Etna — Sicilian railway Circumetnea.

Railway Circumetnea (Circumetnea) offers an easy and very affordable way to admire the scenic overviews of the highest active volcano of Europe. It is a circular route that surrounds this majestic masterpiece of nature.





The route covers 110 km and starts in the village of Giarre. During the trip you can admire the barren minerals of lava, groves of citrus, and plantations of cactus. The views here are just wonderful.

The railway was built between 1889 and 1895, and now a narrow 950 mm rails runs the only tramway. Depending on the season and different weather conditions, a trip along the scenic routes around mount Etna can last up to 5 hours.
