Lohner-Porsche - the beginning of an ecological car
"Live forever" or System Lohner-Porsche Semper Vivus Mixtewagen is the beginning of the environmental automobile industry. It is attributed to the category of hybrid cars, although it was originally designed as the electric car. Designed by a car already renowned Ferdinand Porsche. And production began in Austria in the company of Ludwig Lehner Hofwagenfabrik Ludwig Lohner & Co.
In 1900 in Paris, the owners introduced the "know-how". Then the audience was shown another non-hybrid and electric car model. A little later, the Lohner-Porsche was modified with internal combustion engines. I used to run a generator. Also involved was a Dynamo, which fed the current to the motors of the wheels. The current, which was not used, left for the battery. The new model conquered the exhibition of Paris just a year later. This model was in production only until 1905. The office was made in the form of a lever near the steering wheel.
But 100 years later together with the Porsche engineers was an exact copy of this car. Because drawings Lohner-Porsche is not preserved, the developers made a copy machine on the basis of two photos and is almost indistinguishable from the original. Car called Semper Vivus. The cost of production of $ 1 million. In 2011 this model was on exhibit in the Porsche Museum.
Today, the "Technisches Museum Wien" has rights on this reputable vehicle.
