Engineers at the University of Melbourne was able to produce fabric with high antibacterial properties.

Using the long-known antibacterial properties of silver, scientists of the University of Melbourne have found a way of manufacturing fabrics that can protect against E. coli and S. aureus, killing strains for 10 minutes. Conventionally dipped in a special solution, to impregnate the antimicrobial composition.

The material can be used for making various dressings, bandages, surgical gowns. Professor Vipul Bansal said that such cloth is not only effectively cope with bacteria, but has high strength and can be subjected to repeated washing.
