Japanese researchers after studying an ancient skull of a Dolphin came to the conclusion that these animals swam in the ocean 13 million years ago.

Fossils of an ancient Dolphin was discovered in 1970. Now only a complete study of the skull fragments by researchers at Waseda University have determined that it belongs to the species of Dolphin that existed 13 million years ago, which is 6 million more than assumed. The skull of Eodelphis kabatensis was discovered in a tributary of the river in Hokkaido. The author, towards Mizuki Murakami said, "the Early evolution of true dolphins is still covered in mystery. But Eodelphis kabatensis informs us about the morphology of early dolphins."
