Stakeholders agreements made local of JSC "SEC "Taraz", LLP "Samruk-Kazyna invest", Akimat of Zhambyl region and the English company "UG Energy Limited". In the framework of the pilot project should appear solar power plant of 50 MW. Construction will begin in June and must be completed by the end of the year. Work will now be specifically created too the "Rapid solar-1".

This is not the first renewable energy facility in the region. With the adoption in Kazakhstan in 2009 of the law on support of renewable energy in Zhambyl region was put into operation five objects. This is the first in Central Asia industrial solar power (Otarskiy SPP) with capacity of 504 KW, the first in Kazakhstan industrial wind power plant (WPP) on Kordai pass of 1.5 MW, the largest in Kazakhstan small hydroelectric power plant on reservoir in Tattelecom 9.2 MW Merke GES 1.5 MW Karakachanska HPP 2.3 MW in the district of Turar Ryskulov.

In the region for the construction of renewable energy sources with a total capacity of 188 MW. In 2014 planned construction and commissioning of the first phase of Kordai wind farm-21 with a capacity of 4 MW with a further expansion to 21 MW in 2014-2015.

Work is also underway with investors for projects Genetiskai wind farm capacity of 100 MW solar power plant of 24 MW in Zhambyl region, a cascade of Merke HPPs with a capacity of 19,8 MW.

In these projects the share of green electricity in total electricity production in the region will increase to 40 percent.
