The Olympics 2020 will be used cars on hydrogen

The Japanese want to use in its competition cars on hydrogen fuel cell (FCVs), thus showing the world their advanced technologies. The eco will deliver athletes to the competition venue and back.

The Tokyo government plans to create this month the Council, consisting of officials automakers to start full-scale research project using hydrogen — the most pure energy.

FCVs run on electricity generated from a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. The government plans to create 100 stations to supply hydrogen in large areas of Tokyo as well as Osaka, Aichi and Fukuoka by the end of 2015.

"Hydrogen can become a self-sufficient energy source in the future, which will lead to the solution of energy problems," says a government official. — I would like to build a village for athletes that will make us believe that we really are on the ways of using clean energy." However, the price of FCVs is expected to be about ¥10 million, and supply stations will be established only in large cities. In such circumstances, it is not clear how widely spread the use of FCVs.
