Photo report - the most beautiful railway in the world

On the rails of this railway there are no rhinestones, and sleepers do not contain figure drawings. The beauty of the unique road in South American Chile lies in the stunning scenery that surrounds it, and the panoramas of the opening views.

The Chanyaral-Llanta-Porterillos branch connects the seaport of Chanyaral with remote copper mines in the Andes, located at an altitude of about 2,850 meters above sea level. The line was built 98 years ago by the Andes Copper Mining Company, connecting a copper mine and a smelting furnace. Further, the line connects with the main railway system of Chile and goes to the port city of Chanaral.

In the middle of the last century, the ore in Porterillos became very poor and the mines were closed. However, the railway is still operating. Liquefied ore is supplied to Porterillos via a pipeline from El Salvador. Then it is made of dry concentrate and sent to the domnas.
